EQUUS

Last night Eric and I went to see EQUUS, the revival of the play that is notable for casting Daniel Radcliffe, aka HARRY POTTER, in the lead.

I saw the movie years ago, and then in college we did the play. I desperately wanted to play the part of Alan, even agreeing to doing the nudity, but they cast a theatre major and I was a journalism major, and he kept his underwear on for the scene.

Well, unfortuantely the big draw for this is the nudity, at least for some. Seeing little Harry Potter all grown up and in the buff seems to be titilating for many.

Actually, he proved he is a fine young actor and held his own with veterans Richard Giffith and Kate Mulgrew.

The play is dated and since I knew all the plot twists, it didn't hold the shock that it did for a friend of mine who was there also, seeing it for the very first time.

The staging was great, the actors playing the horses were amazingly fit and stunning, especially the lead "horse".

I found some flaws with the production, but overall it still packs a wallop and Daniel Radcliffe proved he is more then just a movie actor trying to make it on the stage.
