Christa McAuliffe CLICK HERE

Went over to Todd's tonight and watched this documentary! Very powerful! Christa was an amazing woman with an amazing and powerful message. Reach for the Stars! Please watch this movie and talk about it. Share it with others.

Her message must NOT die with her.

I was blown away by her life! She is not "just the teacher who died in the shuttle explosion".

She was a woman who taught tolerance and acceptance WAY before others did.

Thank you Todd for showing this film tonight.

Thank you Christa...you are not forgotten but more importantly your MESSAGE is not forgotten!

We Can Make a Difference...

THE OLD PHONE ON THE WALL...... "HELLO"
When I was a young boy, my father had one of the first telephones in our neighborhood.. I remember the polished, old case fastened to the wall. The shiny receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to reach the telephone, but used to listen with fascination when my mother talked to it.
Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an amazing person. Her name was "Information Please" and there was nothing she did not know. Information Please could supply anyone's number and the correct time.
My personal experience with the genie-in-a-bottle came one day while my mother was visiting a neighbor. Amusing myself at the tool bench in the basement, I whacked my finger with a hammer, the pain was terrible, but there seemed no point in crying because there was no one home to give sympathy.

I walked around the house sucking my throbbing finger, finally arriving at the stairway. The telephone! Quickly, I ran for the footstool in the parlor and dragged it to the landing. Climbing up, I unhooked the receiver in the parlor and held it to my ear.
"Information, please" I said into the
mouthpiece just above my head.

A click or two and a small clear voice spoke into my ear.

"Information."

"I hurt my finger..." I wailed into the phone, the tears came readily enough now that I had an audience.
"Isn't your mother home?" came the question.
"Nobody's home but me," I blubbered.

"Are you bleeding?" the voice asked.

"No,"
I replied. "I hit my finger with the hammer and it hurts."
"Can you open the icebox?" she asked.

I said I could.

"Then chip off a little bit of ice and hold it to your finger," said the voice..

After that, I called "Information Please" for everything.. I asked her for
help with my geography, and she told me where Philadelphia was. She helped me with my math.

She told me my pet chipmunk that I had caught in the park just the day before, would eat fruit and nuts.

Then, there was the time Petey, our pet canary, died. I called,

Information Please," and told her the sad story. She listened, and then said things grown-ups say to soothe a child. But I was not consoled. I asked her, "Why is it that birds should sing so beautifully and bring joy to all families, only to end up as a heap of feathers on the bottom of a cage?"

She must have sensed my deep concern, for she said quietly, " Wayne , always remember that there are other worlds to sing in."

Somehow I felt better.

Another day I was on the telephone, "Information Please."

"Information," said in the now familiar voice. "How do I spell fix?" I asked.

All this took place in a small town in the Pacific Northwest . When I was nine years old, we moved across the country to Boston . I missed my friend very much.
"Information Please" belonged in that old wooden box back home and I
somehow never thought of trying the shiny new phone that sat on the table in the hall. As I grew into my teens, the memories of those childhood conversations never really left me..

Often, in moments of doubt and perplexity I would recall the serene sense of security I had then. I appreciated now how patient, understanding, and kind she was to have spent her time on a little boy.

A few years later, on my way west to college, my plane put down in Seattle . I had about a half-hour or so between planes. I spent 15 minutes or so on the phone with my sister, who lived there now. Then without thinking what I was doing, I dialed my hometown operator and said, "Information Please."

Miraculously, I heard the small, clear voice I knew so well.

"Information."

I hadn't planned this, but I heard myself saying,
"Could you please tell me how to spell fix?"

There was a long pause. Then came the soft spoken answer, "I guess your finger must have healed by now."

I laughed, "So it's really you," I said. "I wonder if you have any
idea how much you meant to me during that time?"

I wonder," she said, "if you know how much your call meant to me.

I never had any children and I used to look forward to your calls."

I told her how often I had thought of her over the years and I asked if I could call her again when I came back to visit my sister.

"Please do", she said. "Just ask for Sally."

Three months later I was back in Seattle . A different voice answered,

"Information."
I asked for Sally.

"Are you a friend?" she said.

"Yes, a very old friend," I answered.

" I'm sorry to have to tell you this,"She said. "Sally had been working part time the last few years because she was sick. She died five weeks ago."

Before I could hang up, she said,
"Wait a minute, did you say your name was Wayne ?" "

Yes." I answered.

"Well, Sally left a message for you.
She wrote it down in case you called.
Let me read it to you."

The note said,
"Tell him there are other worlds to sing in.
He'll know what I mean."

I thanked her and hung up. I knew what Sally meant.

AVATAR IS AMAZING!!!

What a great Sunday! First church at Marble Collegiate, then Initmacy, then brunch at the Dish, then Bree talked me into going to see AVATAR. I didn't want to at first but we went in and BOY AM I GLAD HE TALKED ME INTO IT!

It was simply the most amazing movie I have ever seen! All 3-D but instead of the gimmick of things coming off the screen AT you, it pulls you INTO the movie so you become a part of it!! I was simply blown away! The story is as old as movies, good guy has something the bad guy wants to take away, but the battle to take and the battle to keep were just AWESOME!

Probably, in my opinion, the best technological use of all the elements, in the history of films!!

TRULY IMPRESSIVE on ALL LEVELS!!!

Free To Be You and Me CLICK HERE

As has been pointed out, if we all thought the same and acted the same there would be no challenges and no lessons to be learned.

As much as I sometimes wish we could all just peacefully get along, the world is not built like that.

We all matter, we all deserve and we all count!

I do believe we should all do our part. In a positive manner!

Agree to disagree but my hope is we all work for a better world.

Will We Ever Be United

With the upset in Massachusetts of the Republican candidate getting the Senate seat that Senator Ted Kennedy fought so hard for and from...it just seems like we get further and furhter away from ever truly being a United Nation.

Will Republicans and Democrats every truly be united to help the nation rather than fight and constantly undermine each other's work?

Will we ever truly be the United States?

MLK Monday

It was nice to have Monday off. The weather was a bit warmed and it was clear. I didn't do much, but it was good to have down time.

The reason we had the day off was to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Finally, a holiday to celebrate someone who lived in my lifetime.

And a man who lived and died to free others from the chains both real and invisible.

I didn't go shopping or go on a picnic. What I did was to make sure I let others know I was celebrating the memory of this great man by doing my best to carry his message each and every day.

ALL men and women are created equal.

We all count, we all matter and we all belong!!!

Hello -
I am excited to be painting "Sticke Figures" for Matthew Montgomery's new movie. He has great taste I would have to say, in part because his boyfriend is my ex, the amazing Steve Callahan. I wanted to pass this article on to you because it's a short interview with a beautiful juxtaposition of some of my stranger paintings. The dog painting is "Chloe," a recent portrait for her owner, Ran Burge of Atlanta. I love doing portraits, so contact me if you'd like me to paint one - people or pets. Just don't expect it to show up in the movies! :)

Have a great day -

Subject: Opportunity for fellow artists.

Opportunity for fellow artists.

I sincerely want to thank all of you for supporting my return to acting last year. 2009 was definitely a big year for me! I received a poignant HRC award and began speaking and painting (what I love to do) at OUT AND EQUAL events across the country. In fact, I’m planning to appear in DC late February. I’d love to meet you there and will definitely keep you posted as details are confirmed.

Additionally, because I am a self-taught artist and can use my visibility to promote other self-taught artists, I helped to launch the American Art Awards in 2009! Please check out http://www.AmericanArtAwards.com to see how easy it is for YOU to enter a piece of your art and get it seen by 25 galleries.

Since I’m on recurring status with Y&R, most days, I’m currently working on portrait commissions. This week I’m in the process of painting a Texas woman's three grown sons on a golf course that will hang in her husband's office. When the time is right, I’m looking forward to going back to work on the show. Until then, I will keep you posted!

May 2010 be full of breakthroughs for you and yours!

Cynthia Toussaint and Maria Shriver CLICK HERE

My friend Cynthia sent me the link to this article she wrote on Maria Shriver's website.

I am so happy for Cynthia. She has fought long and hard to be heard and finally all of her hard work and dedication are paying off. As well as her partner John! They are showing what happens when you don't give in, don't give up and don't let anything get you down.

Kudos and congrats Cynthia and John!

COLD

Well the first weekend of the new year and it is COLD. Plus I finally succumbed to the flu bug, so was out of commission Saturday night, all day Sunday and if I could have stayed home today I would have, but had to get in. Luckily once I got to work I felt much better.
Still, we are having a Cold SNAP! Global warming? More like Global colding.
HOPE for a more even and less severe week.

First Day of 2010

I took this around 1:40PM from Times Square.

Had a nice NY Eve. Went over to Brian's and played with Shorty while he got ready for a dinner. Then we walked, in the rain/sleet/snow to Chelsea. I met Phil and Eric at Vynil while Brian when to a party.
Had a nice casual dinner, then Phil left to go to a party and Eric and I went to the Center to the Sober Dance.
Met up with some friends. Dance, rang in the new year, danced some more, then came home.
Low key but fun!

Safe Sober and with Friends!!
